MDI - The Latest Generation Diagnostic Solution
For Vauxhall/Opel, Saab and Chevrolet
General Motors has developed a new diagnostic system which will be implemented in addition to the Tech2. The core of the new diagnostic solution is the Multiple Diagnostic Interface MDI, which acts as a link between the controllers in the vehicle and the PC.
The MDI will provide significantly enhanced diagnostic and programming capabilities, e.g. programming will be up to 70% faster than previously. The MDI will be a truly multibrand system. It can be used for SPS programming of all current and new Opel/Vauxhall and Saab models. The diagnostic functionality can be applied for all new Opel/Vauxhall, Saab and Chevrolet models, starting with the launch of the Vectra-C successor, Insignia.
The future of the Tech 2
The Tech 2 remains an essential tool or the foreseeable future. The MDI will not support diagnostic on past models hence the Tech 2 will continue to be needed to diagnose all vehicles from previous model years. Using the MDI for SPS programming on current models will free up Tech 2 for diagnostic tasks and will increase your diagnostic capacities.
MDI is available separately to use with your own PC/Laptop or as a pre configured package including a choice of Laptops, from basic up to fully ruggedized Panasonic Toughbook.
